About Nilgiri Tahr:
- Description: Nilgiri Tahr, also known as Nilgiri Ibex, are stocky goats with short, coarse fur, bristly mane and curved horns.
- Habitat: Inhabits the open montane grassland habitats. They are endemic to the Nilgiri Hills and the southern portion of the Western Ghats in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
- Conservation Status:
- Listed as Endangered in IUCN Red List
- Listed under Schedule 1 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972
