- Pakistan has decided to observe the Pakistan Air Force(PAF)’s retaliatory action that it had taken on 27th February 2019 against India as ‘Operation Swift Retort’.
- According to PAF,swift response demonstrates their firm resolve,capacity and capability in thwarting opposing successfully in their criminal designs.
- Tensions between India and Pakistan had escalated after Jaish-e-Mohammed(JeM) suicide bomber had attacked CRPF convoy in Pulwama killing 40 CRPF soldiers
- Later,Indian Air Force(IAF) had carried Balakot Air Strike hitting what it claimed was a JeM training camp in Balakot deep inside Pakistan.
- Further,the PAF had retaliated and downed a MiG-21 in an aerial combat and captured IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman who was later released and handed over to India.
