  • PANCHAM stands for Panchayat Assistance & Messaging Chatbot.
  • About: It is an AI digital chatbot designed to help village panchayats access government schemes, official data, and important updates easily.
  • Launched by: Ministry of Panchayati Raj
  • Objective: To strengthen responsive, transparent, and accountable grassroots governance.
  • Target Users: It serves elected representatives and panchayat staff, including sarpanches and ward members across India.
  • Registration and Usage: To use the service, a user’s mobile number must be linked to the e-Gram Swaraj portal.
    • Users can activate PANCHAM by scanning a QR code and completing the registration process.
  • Main Features
    • PANCHAM works through WhatsApp, so users do not need advanced technical knowledge to operate it. It is accessible on basic smartphones with internet connectivity.
    • PANCHAM have two interfaces: One for Panchayat Functionaries and Elected Representative and another for Citizens.
    • Language Support: The chatbot supports 22 Indian languages to ensure wider participation and understanding.
  • Services offered:
    • Direct Communication: Timely delivery of circulars, guidelines, and directives through easy-to-understand WhatsApp messages.
    • Two-Way Communication:  It enables users to ask questions directly to the ministry and concerned authorities. It also allows officials to send feedback and report local problems.
    • Real-Time Information: A dedicated chatbot for FAQs and updates on MoPR schemes and programs.
    • Training Support: Sharing short video-based training modules on relevant topics along with Pre-training communication and post-training feedback to improve learning outcomes.
