The Ministry of Women and Child Development has launched a new Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) portal.

Objectives1.To provide partial compensation for the wage loss in terms of cash incentive, so that the woman can take adequate rest before and after delivery of the first child.
2.To improve health seeking behavior amongst the Pregnant Women & Lactating Mothers (PW&LM). 
EligibilityThe scheme covers all Pregnant Woman & Lactating Mothers (PW&LM), excluding PW&LM who are in regular employment with the Central Government or State Governments or the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) or those who are in receipt of similar benefits under any law. 
LimitThe maternity benefit is to be provided to a woman for the first two children provided the second child is a girl
BenefitsFirst Child: ₹5000 (in two installments) under PMMVY.
Plus additional cash incentive of Rs 1000 under Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) after institutional delivery.
On an average ,a women gets ₹6000 total
Second Child: Benefit of ₹6000 is to be provided subject to the second child being a girl child.
This will be provided in one instalment after the birth.
