  • It ranks 180 countries and territories by their perceived levels of public sector corruption, according to experts and business people.

Key takeaways: top-ranked countries are New Zealand and Denmark

India’s Ranking: India ranked 80th in 2019 compared to 78 in 2018

World Press Freedom Index 2019

-Annual Report

Published by: Reporters Without Borders (RSF)

  • It is based upon RSF’s own assessment of the countries’ press freedom records in the previous year

Key takeaways: Norway ranked 1st

India’s Rank: India ranked 140 out of 180 countries in 2019, in comparison to 138th in 2018.

International Intellectual Property Index, 2020

Annual Report

Published by: U.S Chamber of Commerce’s Global Innovation Policy Centre (GIPC)

·        The index maps the Intellectual Property (IP) ecosystem in 53 global economies representing over 90% of global GDP.

Key takeaways: US ranked first

India’s ranking: India has been ranked at 40th in 2020 compared to 36th in 2019

Democracy Index, 2019Published by: Economist Intelligence Unit

Parameters/ Dimensions: 5 parameters and 60 Indicators:

  • electoral process and pluralism;
  • the functioning of government;
  • political participation;
  • political culture;
  • civil liberties

Key takeaway: Norway ranked first

India’s ranking: India was ranked 51st and included in the “flawed democracy” category.

Global Diplomacy Index 2019Published by: Sydney-based Lowey Institute

  • The index is an analysis of the number of embassies and consulates maintained by countries around the world.

Key takeaways: China has the world’s largest diplomatic network

India’s ranking: India has been ranked 12th. India has 123 embassies and high commissions and 54 consulates globally.
