News: Border Roads Organisation celebrated the 37th Raising Day of Project UDAYAK on June 01, 2026, at Doomdooma in Assam.
About Project UDAYAK

- Project UDAYAK is a specialized territorial wing of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for developing and maintaining strategic road infrastructure in Northeast India.
- Nodal Ministry: Ministry of Defence
- Launched in: The project was established in 1989 and was raised on 01 June 1990 at Doomdooma, Assam.
- Naming: The project was named ‘Udayak’, meaning the Rising Sun.
- Key Aspects of Project UDAYAK:
- Area of Responsibility (AOR): The project manages more than 1,457 km of strategic roads in the easternmost regions of Arunachal Pradesh and parts of Assam, covering Anjaw, Lohit, Dibang Valley, Longding, Tirap, and Changlang districts.
- Border Connectivity and Security: The project enhances connectivity along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and the Indo–Myanmar border, improving accessibility in strategically important regions.
- Road and Border Fencing Construction: The project is undertaking road construction and border fencing works along the Indo–Myanmar border.
- Community Outreach Activities: The project conducts medical camps, Swachhata Abhiyan, road safety awareness campaigns, and other community welfare activities for local populations.
