News: The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) has been selected for the Rajbhasha Utkrishtta Sammaan 2025–26.
About Rajbhasha Utkrishtta Sammaan
- It is a special honour that recognises continuous excellence in the implementation of the Official Language.
- Presented by: The award is presented by the Department of Official Language under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
- Award Ceremony: The honour will be presented during the Hindi Diwas Sammelan in Navi Mumbai on September 14, 2026.
- Key Features:
- Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar: The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) received the Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar (First) for two consecutive years, 2023–24 and 2024–25, for its performance in implementing the Official Language.
- The “Two-Year” Rule: According to the rules, a Ministry or Department that receives the first prize for two consecutive years is not eligible to receive the award in the following year.
- Special Recognition: Despite this rule, DARPG was selected for the Rajbhasha Utkrishtta Sammaan for 2025–26.
- Constitutional Background: On September 14, 1949, the Constituent Assembly designated Hindi in the Devanagari script as the Official Language of the Union of India.
- Role of the Department: The Department of Official Language, has played a vital role in promoting the use of Hindi in official matters since 1975.
