Biography of UPSC CSE 2024 Topper Ritika Rath AIR 48

  • Birth and Domicile: Born in Sambalpur, Odisha, and raised by public servant parents, Ritika Rath grew up understanding the true meaning of service. Her Odisha roots instilled in her a deep appreciation for public service and social responsibility, which would later shape her career aspirations. 
  • Family Background: Ritika was raised in a family deeply committed to public service and welfare. Her father, Shri. Sisir Kumar Ratho is a public servant giving his services in the field of environmental conservation and ecology. At the same time, her mother, Smt. Sujata Ratho is also a public servant working in the field of preservation and conservation of wildlife in Odisha. 
  • Educational Background: Ritika’s academic record reflects consistent excellence and hard work. She secured a perfect 10 CGPA from Sau International School, Bhubaneswar, in 2017. She further secured 95.2% from Sanskriti School, New Delhi. She has completed her graduation from the Indian Institute of Management in Economics and Management. 
  • Previous work Experience: Before her UPSC success, Ritika worked as a Research Analyst at Tata Steel Foundation, Jamshedpur. This one-year experience gave her, ground-level understanding of social challenges, practical exposure to development work, and valuable insights into policy implementation. 
  • UPSC Preparation Journey: Ritika’s path to AIR 48 is marked by 3 attempts, showing her resilience, smart strategy over rote learning. Her choice of philosophy optional has also played an instrumental role in ensuring that this optional optimizes her score in GS4 and the Essay paper of the mains examination.
