Awadh was not the first state to be annexed by subsidiary alliance treaty. Actually the process of annexation of Awadh was long and it was finally annexed sighting law and order problem as the reason. I can’t remember now but some state of either orrisa or Maharashtra was first to be annexed by this treaty.
