News: The Uttar Pradesh government submitted a Solani River floodplain demarcation report to the NGT on September 7, 2026.
About Solani River
- Origin: The Solani River originates in the Himalayan foothills near Dehradun.
- Course: It flows through Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
- Confluence: It joins the Banganga River upstream of Shukratal.
- Current Issues:
- Floodplain Demarcation: The NGT directed demarcation using a one-metre contour interval and a one-in-100-year return period.
- Implementation: The floodplain zone was notified for Saharanpur and Muzaffarnagar in December 2024.
