News: During the trial operation, the seaplane successfully took off from Jolly Grant Airport and landed at Koti Colony in the Tehri Lake area.
About Tehri Lake

- Location: It is Asia’s largest man-made lake, located in Tehri Garhwal district, Uttarakhand.
- Formation: Tehri Lake was formed when the waters of the Bhagirathi River were obstructed by the Tehri Dam, resulting in the submergence of Old Tehri town and several nearby villages.
- Over time, as the reservoir filled, the valley transformed into a vast water body.
- Source: It is fed by the Bhagirathi and Bhilangna rivers, which meet at the Tehri dam.
- Height and depth: It is situated at an elevation of about 1,700 meters with depth of 262 meters approximately.
- It holds nearly 3.54 cubic kilometres of water and spreads across 42–52 square kilometres of surface area.
- It is surrounded by the Himalayan mountain ranges, dense pine forests, and terraced villages.
- Significance: The lake also supports the functioning of the Tehri Dam, which has a large power generation capacity of about 2,400 MW and supplies electricity to multiple states in northern India.
- Sport activities: It hosts different sports activities, such as Jet Skiing, Flyboarding, Knee Boarding, Banana Ride, Surfing,etc.
