  1. India’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas has received the final operational clearance (FOC) from military aviation regulator for induction into the Indian Air Force (IAF) as a weaponised fighter jet.
  2. The LCA Tejas is an Indian single-seat, single-jet engine, multi-role light fighter.Its design is highly manoeuvrable, with a tailless, compound delta wing configuration.
  3. It came from the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) programme, which began in the 1980s to replace India’s ageing MiG-21 fighters.Later, the LCA was officially named “Tejas”, meaning “Radiant” by the then Prime Minister.It is the smallest and lightest in its class of contemporary supersonic combat aircraft.
  4. It is designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Indian Air Force and Navy
  5. This indigenously produced will reduce the monetary constrains, and provide more efficiency to Indian Defence.
