The Union Public Service Commission has recently declared the long-awaited UPSC IAS 2023 final result. This announcement marks a significant milestone in the careers of many aspiring civil servants across India, concluding months of anticipation and rigorous preparation. Successful candidates will be posted against the 1105 vacancies this year. A total 1016 candidates have been recommended against the 1105 vacancies, which is the usual process of UPSC. Recommendations for rest of the seats will be declared later in this year.

Exam Process before UPSC CSE Results

Every year, thousands of aspirants across India eagerly wait for this moment, which determines their future in the coveted Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other prestigious civil services.

This exam contains 3 stages before the declaration of final results, i.e. Prelims Mains [written], and Interview or Personality tests.

In 2023 exam, the prelims examination took place on May 28, while the UPSC CSE Mains took place on September 15 which spanned for five days. The interviews started from January 4 to April 9, 2024.

  1. Initial Candidate Pool: Approximately 13 lakh candidates applied for this challenging journey by appearing for the Preliminary examination.
  2. Qualification for Mains: Out of those who appeared for the Prelims, 14,624 candidates successfully qualified to sit for the Mains examination, highlighting the competitive nature of the exam.
  3. Advancement to Interviews: After the Mains, around 2,916 candidates were selected to proceed to the Personality Test or interview stage, which is the final hurdle before the final selection.
  4. Final Vacancies to be filled: This year, the UPSC aimed to fill approximately 1,105 positions across various services, which include the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), among others.
