Here is the 3rd Mains Marathon Botany Optional Test.


We have decided to move section wise with the basic understanding of each topic of every paper.

In the mid-September we will do the complete paper every week so that you can get the feel to complete the paper before real exam (October 2017).

We hope you will enjoy the initiative.

b) What is meant by constitutive gene expression? How is constitutive gene expression unlike regulated gene expression? (15M)

3. a) Does mitosis or meiosis have greater significance in the study of heredity? Explain. (15M)

b) Phage vector used for cloning kill the host bacterial cell in which they are propagated. How can this be advantageous for working with DNA clone? (15M)

b) What are some of the advantages of using DNA sequences to infer evolutionary relationship? (10M)

c) Explain with suitable the advantages of tissue culture technique over conventional methods of crop improvement. (15M)
