What should be done?
Clarity regarding the enactment- Ideally, the reservation should be implemented in the forthcoming general elections.
Government should also outline a precise timeline for implementation. Members of Parliament should propose amendments to ensure that a well-defined timeline is included in the final legislation
Reservation in Rajya Sabha and Legislative councils- A potential solution from Purnima Banerjee’s proposal in the Constituent Assembly debates needs consideration.
She proposed that if the seats currently held by women in the Assembly become vacant, they should be filled by other women.
