News: The Department of Water Resources has launched the 7th National Water Awards on the Rashtriya Puraskar portal, with applications open until 28th August, 2026.
About 7th National Water Awards

- The 7th National Water Awards recognize and encourage outstanding work in water conservation and water resource management across India.
- Launched By: The Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti launched the awards.
- First Edition: The first National Water Awards were introduced in 2018.
- Aim: The awards aim to support Jal Samridh Bharat, promote water conservation, and encourage better water usage practices.
- Objective: The awards encourage stakeholders to adopt a holistic approach to water resource management because surface water and groundwater are important in the water cycle.
- Prizes: Each winner receives a Trophy along with a Citation.
- Process: A Screening Committee scrutinises applications,
- the Jury Committee recommends winners, and
- the Minister of Jal Shakti approves the final list.
- Conferral: The President of India or the Vice President of India confers the awards during the award ceremony.
- Eligibility for the Awards: States, Districts, Urban Local Bodies, Dam Owner Agencies, and Industries that have done good work in water conservation and management are eligible.
- Portal: Applications are accepted only through the Rashtriya Puraskar portal.
