News: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is set to roll out  E-PRAAPTI Portal to facilitate identification, tracking, Unique Account Number (UAN) linking, and activation of old EPF accounts.

About E-PRAAPTI Portal

• E-PRAAPTI stands for EPF Aadhaar-Based Access Portal for Tracking Inoperative Accounts.
• It is a new digital platform to facilitate identification, tracking, Unique Account Number (UAN) linking, and activation of old EPF accounts.
• Initiated by: It has been initiated by Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). 
• This initiative is part of EPFO’s broader push toward digitisation and process automation. 
• Aim: It aims to help individuals who have lost track of their Provident Fund (PF) accounts after changing jobs.
  • It also assists users who have forgotten their member IDs or have not linked their accounts with UAN.
• The initiative is intended to reduce the amount of unclaimed or inactive PF savings.

  • The portal allows users to log in using Aadhaar-based authentication.
  • Users can access their accounts even if they do not have a Universal Account Number (UAN).
  • After logging in, users can update their profile details and link old accounts to their current UAN.
• Rollout Plan: In the initial phase, the portal will provide access based on PF member IDs.
  • Users who still have their old member IDs will be able to use the system immediately.
  • In the future phase, the portal will also support users who do not remember or have access to their member IDs.

About Universal Account Number (UAN) UAN stands for Universal Account Number. Allotted by: It is allotted by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). It is a 12-digit unique number assigned to every employee contributing to the Employees’ Provident Fund. Objective: The main objective is to capture KYC details of its members to eliminate the dependency on the employer and improve the quality of service. It acts as an umbrella for the multiple Member IDs allotted to an individual by different establishments. If a member has already been allotted the UAN, he is required to provide the same while joining a new establishment so that the new employer can link the newly allotted Member ID to the existing UAN. Accessibility: EPFO beneficiary or the member needs to visit the UAN-based Member Portal. Single UAN helps an EPFO beneficiary or the member to view all the PF-related details of current and previous organizations in one place.
