News: In a recent finding, it was found out that introducing the hexavalent vaccine under the Universal Immunisation Programme could reduce the number of injections, ease pressure on health workers and improve programme efficiency.
About Hexavalent Vaccine
- About: A hexavalent (six-in-one) vaccine is a combination vaccine that protects infants against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), Hepatitis B, Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), and polio in a single injection.
- Doses: It is expected to be given as three doses at six, ten, and 14 weeks , with a booster dose given between the child’s first and second birth date.
