News: The SC-NBWL recommended clearance for the Panari Pumped Storage Hydropower Project despite concerns raised over its location in the Panna–Ranipur Tiger Reserve corridor.
About Ranipur Tiger Reserve

- Location: It is located in the Chitrakoot district of Uttar Pradesh.
- It is the fourth tiger reserve of UP, after Dudhwa, Pilibhit and Amangarh (buffer of Corbett Tiger Reserve).
- Declared year: It was declared a tiger reserve in 2022.
- In 1977, it was established as a wildlife sanctuary.
- Area: It spans an area of across 529.89 square kilometres (sq km).
- River flowing through: The Betwa and Dhasan rivers pass through the area.
- Vegetation: It has tropical dry deciduous forests.
- Flora: The area is covered by dense, deciduous forest and a variety of vegetation which includes Tendu, Mahua, Bamboo, Dhak, Gooseberry, Wood Apple, Sal etc.
- Fauna: It is home to species such as tigers, leopards, sloth bears, spotted deer, sambhar, chinkara and a number of birds and reptiles.
