News: India’s Prime Minister is visiting Kyrgyzstan to participate in the 26th SCO Summit and attend the 6th World Nomad Games.
Key Facts About Kyrgyzstan

- Location: Kyrgyzstan is a landlocked mountainous country in Central Asia.
- Boundaries: It shares borders with Kazakhstan in the north, Uzbekistan in the west, Tajikistan in the south, and China in the east.
- Capital: Bishkek
- Climate: It has a continental climate strongly influenced by its distance from oceans and sharp changes in elevation.
- Topography: It is a predominantly mountainous country.
- The Tien Shan mountain system forms its core, while the Talas, Chatkal, Alay and Trans-Alay ranges are also important.
- Vegetation: Steppes, meadows, pastures, shrubs, and forests occur mainly in the north, while alpine meadows, semi-deserts, and deserts occur in the south.
- Highest Peak: Victory Peak (Jengish Chokusu) is highest peak, standing at 7,439 m.
- It is also the highest point of the Tien Shan Range.
- Valleys: The major valleys include the Fergana Valley, Alay Valley, Chu Valley and Talas Valley.
- The lowland areas occupy only about one-seventh of the country’s total area but are home to most of its people.
- Rivers: The Naryn and Chu Rivers are of major importance river.
- The Naryn continues as a tributary of the Syr Darya.
- Lakes: Lake Issyk-Kul, the second-largest saline lake in the world after the Caspian Sea
- Lake Song-Köl is another important lake.
- Flora: Important species include Tien Shan white spruce, juniper, walnut, wild apple, pear, cherry, tulip, and edelweiss.
- Fauna: Species include brown bear, wild sheep, mountain goat, lynx, deer, Marco Polo sheep, and snow leopard.
