News: The Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Japan Air Self-Defence Force (JASDF) will conduct the bilateral air exercise Veer Guardian-2026.
About Exercise Veer Guardian-2026
- Exercise Veer Guardian-2026 is a bilateral exercise conducted between India and Japan.
- 2026 Host: It would be conducted from 9 September 2026 to 22 September 2026 at Air Force Station, Jodhpur.
- Edition: This is the second edition of this exercise.
- First edition: The first edition of Exercise Veer Guardian was held in Japan in 2023.
- Aim: It aimed at strengthening operational coordination and sharing professional expertise.
- Forces Involved: Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Japan Air Self-Defence Force (JASDF) will be participating in the exercise.
- India’s Participation: The IAF will deploy a diverse fleet comprising the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, Su-30 MKI and Rafale fighter aircraft.
- Japan Participation: The JASDF will participate with its F-2A fighter aircraft.
- Focus: It focuses heavily on strengthening interoperability, sharpening tactical combat skills, and fostering operational synergy between the two air forces.
- Participating air warriors will engage in complex operational scenarios, including advanced air-combat manoeuvring.
- The comprehensive programme also features mission-planning conferences, engineering exchanges, and focused discussions on aerospace safety.
- Significance: These efforts will help promote a free, open, and secure Indo-Pacific region.
