News: India successfully test-fired the Agni-4 ballistic missile from Chandipur, Odisha, validating all operational and technical parameters under the Strategic Forces Command.
About Agni-4 Missile

- Agni-4 is an indigenously developed, nuclear-capable medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM).
- Developed By: It was designed and developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
- Operated Under: It is operated under the Strategic Forces Command, which functions as the operational arm of India’s Nuclear Command Authority.

- Type: Agni-4 is a nuclear-capable medium-range ballistic missile.
- Propulsion: It uses a two-stage solid-fuel propulsion system.
- Strike Range: It has a strike range of approximately 4,000 km.
- Physical Dimension: The missile weighs 17,000 kg and is 20 metres long.
- Payload: It can carry nuclear or conventional warhead.

- Heat-Insulated Shield: The missile has a carbon-carbon composite thermal shield that can withstand re-entry temperatures of 3,000–4,000°C.
- It keeps the internal electronic systems below 50°C, ensuring reliable performance.
- Enhanced Survivability: Its reduced radar cross-section, road mobility, and advanced communication and guidance systems improve survivability against countermeasures and strengthen strategic deterrence.
