News: The National Statistics Office launched the first-ever ASISSE from April 2026 to build a comprehensive database of the services sector.
About Annual Survey of Incorporated Services Sector Enterprises (ASISSE)

- It is a nationwide survey to generate reliable data on incorporated services sector enterprises.
- Launched by: It is launched by the National Statistics Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI).
- Reference period: The reference period is the financial year 2024–25.
- Legal Framework: It is conducted under the provisions of the Collection of Statistics Act, 2008.
- Sampling Frame: The sampling is based on the GSTN database and covers about 1.21 lakh enterprises, ensuring wide and representative coverage.
- Objectives
- It aims to develop a comprehensive database of the incorporated services sector.
- It provides key operational and economic indicators for evidence-based policymaking.
- Coverage: It covers companies registered under the Companies Act and Limited Liability Partnership Act across sectors like trade, transport, hospitality, information technology, education, and healthcare in all States and Union Territories.
- Complementary Survey: ASISSE complements Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) for manufacturing and Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) for unincorporated sector to provide a holistic view of the non-agricultural economy.
- Significance: It strengthens data on a sector contributing over half of India’s GDP and generating millions of jobs.
