- The Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Steel has launched the Atal Community Innovation Centre(ACIC) program.This program is a new initiative under Atal Innovation Mission(AIM).
- The new initiative will aim to encourage the spirit of innovation in the country’s specific areas that lack the required infrastructure and facilitating innovation ecosystem.
- The purpose of ACIC will also be to enable the establishment of socially inclusive innovation ecosystem as well as to encourage the equitable distribution of necessary infrastructure for stimulating innovation across the country.
- The program will be aimed at spurring community Innovation centres in underserved and unserved areas of the country.The programme would focus on the 484 districts located in unserved/underserved regions of India.
- The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) was set up by NITI Aayog in 2016.It aims to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.It seeks to create institutions and programs that enhance innovation in schools, colleges, and entrepreneurs in general.
