News: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the ‘Bharat Vann’ green initiative at Central Delhi.
About ‘Bharat Vann’ Green Initiative

- ‘Bharat Vann’ green initiative is an initiative to create an one-acre urban forest at Lodhi Colony Park in Central Delhi using the Japanese Miyawaki technique.
- Aim: It aims at promoting urban ecological restoration and expanding green cover in the national capital.
- Launched by: It was launched in collaboration with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
- Developed by: It has been developed by India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (IIFCL) under its corporate social responsibility initiative and is being implemented by the Enviro Creators Foundation.
- Framework: It was developed under the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp’ framework and involved the participation of school students and NDMC members.
- Features:
- It would develop a dense green forest area in the heart of Delhi using indigenous plants suited to the local environment.
- The space will also provide residents with facilities for walking, meditation and yoga.
- Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative would also be taken up at the site, with team members and schoolchildren planting and nurturing trees.
