News: Union Minister Jitendra Singh launched BIO-NIVESH to connect biotechnology startups with investors and increase private capital for scale-up.
About BIO-NIVESH Platform

- BIO-NIVESH is a platform that connects biotechnology startups with investors for scale-up and commercialization.
- Organized by: It has been organized by BIRAC (Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council) under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT).
- Ministry Involved: It comes under the Ministry of Science & Technology.
- Aim: It aims to connect scientific research, entrepreneurship, industry and the market and increase private investment in biotechnology innovations.
- Key Features of BIO-NIVESH:
- Inaugural Edition: The first edition brought together 20 biotechnology and deep-tech startups and around 50 investors.
- Two Sessions: The first session involved direct startup-investor interactions, while the second focused on access to capital, commercialization, scale-up and innovation-led growth.
- Two-way engagement: It helps startups understand investor expectations and helps investors understand biotechnology’s scientific, regulatory and development challenges.
- Selection Criteria: Startups are selected based on innovation, development stage, market potential, scalability and regulatory readiness.
- Focus on scale-up: It supports innovations that are ready for commercialization and scale-up.
- Recurring platform: Future editions are proposed in different cities to connect regional biotechnology ecosystems with investment networks.
