- India’s External Affairs Minister will attend the 5th Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia(CICA) Summit in Dushanbe,Tajikistan.
- The theme of the 5th Summit is “Shared Vision for a Secure and More Prosperous CICA Region.The Summit will adopt a Declaration covering issues of cooperation within CICA.
- CICA is an inter-governmental forum for enhancing cooperation towards promoting peace, security and stability in Asia.It was established in 1999 and its headquarters is in Kazakhstan.
- The key idea of the Conference is based on the priority of the indivisibility of security, joint initiative and mutually beneficial interaction of small and large states.
- Presently,CICA has 27 member states.8 countries and five multinational organizations, including United nations have the observer status.
- India is a member of CICA since its inception and India had participated in the first CICA Summit held in 2002.
