News: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has successfully concluded its participation in two pivotal international flight engagements: Exercise Pitch Black 2026 in Australia and Exercise Udara Shakti 2026 in Malaysia.
About Exercise Udara Shakti 2026
- About: It is a five-day bilateral air exercise between India and Malaysia.
- Host: It was conducted at Subang, Malaysia.
- First Edition: The inaugural edition of Exercise was conducted in 2022.
- Exercise Udara Shakti 2026 is the third edition of the exercise.
- Frequency of exercise: It is conducted once in every two year.
- Aircraft deployed: The IAF has deployed four Rafales from 101 Squadron and two C-17 Globemaster III strategic airlift aircraft from 81 Squadron.
- The RMAF has fielded two Su-30MKMs from No. 12 Squadron, two F/A-18D Hornets from No. 18 Squadron and an A400M transport aircraft.
- IAF aircrew executed high-intensity combat sorties and joint tactical manoeuvres alongside the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF).
- Participation: A total of 83 personnel from the two air forces are participating in the exercise.
- Activities involved: The flying phase includes dissimilar air combat training, dissimilar basic fighter manoeuvres and air-to-air refuelling.
- The two air forces are also conducting subject matter expert exchanges (SMEE), on training doctrine and integrated operations.
- The exercise involved complex missions in a high-threat environment, improving coordination, learning, and teamwork among the participating countries.
