- Railway Minister has said that the Rail Coach Factory is targeting to manufacture 1,422 Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches in 2018-19.
- LHB coaches are the passenger coaches of Indian Railways that have been developed by Linke-Hofmann-Busch of Germany.These coaches are produced by Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala,Punjab.
- The advantages of LHB coaches are-(a) The LHB coaches can travel at a higher speed.The coaches are designed for an operating speed up to 160 km/h and could go up to 200 km/h.(b) During collision or derailment, the LHB coaches do not climb on the adjacent coaches, due to the use of Center Buffer Coupling(CBC),instead of the dual buffer system(c)These coaches are equipped with “controlled discharge toilet system” (CDTS) and Bio-toilets, which are environmental friendly (d)The LHB coaches use “advanced pneumatic disc brake system” for efficient braking at higher speeds.(e)The coaches have Modular interiors and (f)These coaches are of lower cost when compared to the ICF coaches
