News: U.S.A government under President Donald Trump has begun the process of renewing a right-of-way agreement that would allow the Trans Alaska Pipeline System near Galbraith lake to operate for another 30 years.

  • Location: Galbraith Lake is a lake located in the North Slope Borough of Alaska, U.S.A.
  • Naming: It was named in 1951 after Bart Galbraith, a bush pilot who died in a 1950 plane crash.
  • Formation: It was formed by glaciers, and is known to contain lake trout, burbot and grayling fish, with some reports of Arctic char.
  • Size: It is approximately 3.6 miles (5.8 km) long.
  • Climate: It has a cold subarctic climate, close to a tundra climate.
  • Galbraith Lake Airport and Pump Station 4 of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System are also located in the area.
    •  A campground is also located near the lake.

About Trans Alaska Pipeline System 

  • Trans-Alaska Pipeline is an 800-mile critical energy infrastructure project that carries crude oil.
  • It connects the oil fields of Prudhoe Bay in northern Alaska, U.S.A, with the harbour at Valdez to the south.
