News: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) recently examined a case of alleged illegal sand mining in the Budhabalanga River in Mayurbhanj district, Odisha.
About Budhabalanga River

- Budhabalanga River flows through Odisha.
- Origin: It originates from the Similipal Hill, Mayurbhanj district, Odisha.
- Course of river: It plunges through Barehipani falls, the second-highest waterfall in India, located in Simlipal National Park.
- It flows through Baripada and Balasore districts before it finally empties into the Bay of Bengal.
- Length: It has with a length of around 175 km.
- It has a total catchment area of 4,840 sq. km.
- Tributaries: Its major tributaries are Palapala, Sunei, Kalo, Sanjo, Deo, Gangahari and Katra.
