We are now inviting applications for SFG ( Residential ) at the ForumIAS Residential Coaching for Civil services. The SFG ( Residential ) is about 23 weeks long program that is likley to commence from December 10th. SFG Residential is program for people who have given two or more attempts and prelims, but have not been able to clear prelims and have done all they could possibly do but are unable to figure out why they are not able to clear the prelims examination.
About SFG Residential
SFG Residential (Prelims ) is a rigorous 23 weeks+ program aimed at clearing prelims clearing prelims with a Forest cut off for people who have done everything and are at their wit’s end as to why despite good past academic record, they are stuck at this stage. SFG(R) is conducted in an integrated residential campus with classes, hostel, mess in a single campus with a like minded crowd that saves time, aids productivity, simulates and spreads the competition that some people feel 1 week before the exam to over a 23 week period. In the past FRC students have produced awesome results with Abhishek, Snehith and Zinnia securing Ranks 38, 94 and 156 in the very year they joined FRC with several candidates clearing even the IFoS cut off and getting ranks after not clearing prelims several times before. Who are we looking for?
In one line, we are looking for people whose only problem in life is clearing prelims.[@]We are looking for candidates who have done all they could but are unable to clear prelims sitting at home or doing various coachings in ORN, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune etc, implemented every reddit advice and are unable to figure out why they are unable to clear it after 2-3 attempts ( and others are! ). Candidates must have the physical ( and mental ) capacity to sit for 8-10 hours on most days and 10-14 hours on some days / nights and are looking for a disciplined atmosphere, amazing peer group, and robust and experienced academic support with proven courses and background at aiding people clear Prelims, Mains and Interview and ( even get Rank 1*).
Candidates must be mentally prepared and physically fit to undertake a rigorous academic training program with daily classes and test taking with a pre-defined schedule and intense competition and right guidance that brings the best out of them. Students will be provided with a in-campus library facility and a hostel facility with single rooms where they can come without worrying about finding a room, dealing with landlords, brokers etc and get started with a momentum.In short, students can expect an environment where a rock solid preparation can be done – among other students doing a good preparation – in a place and manner how it should be done. If you are someone who has faced trouble clearing prelims twice or more ( or know someone who does ) you can recommend this program to them.
Who should not apply for this program?
Candidates who are not bodily fit or have a medical condition that does not allow them to sit for long hours may not apply for the program, as there is nothing we can do, and in no way, with our limited resources, can we provide exceptional support to such candidates on day-to-day basis.
NOTE : Candidates from PH category having mobility challenges are encouraged to apply and visit the campus to evlaute if facilities are built for their suitability. On special requests rooms with attached washrooms may be provided to ONLY such candidates10 . Classrooms have ramp facility for wheelchair support and are built to meet special needs.
Candidates who want to experiment with UPSC ( are in that phase where they try writing the exam without preparation, just to get the “feel” or trying out “n” no of coachings to see what this all about ) may skip this. Also candidates who want to excel in competition ( UPSC Civils Examination ) , but want to avoid excellence in the hard work needed before the actual exam may also avoid it. This is because the training/coaching for the competition ( UPSC ) is done by ForumIAS by simulating the same ( or higher ) competition in the campus and multiple times before the actual exam.

Eligibility :
- Candidates must have given at least 1 and ideally two attempts at Prelims Examination.
- Candidates must have at least 1 and ideally two attempts left for Civil Services.
- Candidates must have a copy of their 10th Certificate and College Graduation Certificate
- Candidates whose candidature has been rejected for previous FRC batches may not apply.
Candidates Encouraged to Apply
- Candidates from North East and Southern States
- Women Candidates are encouraged to apply
- Candidates who are nearing attempt exhaustion, and are unable to figure out “why me?”
- Candidates who had done forumias PTS / SFG other programs and still not able to break the loop
Method of Selection
Admission to FRC Programs are done through an entrance examination and a multidimensional composite criteria exists for the selection. Selections are done on the basis of a composite score of (1) written test performance (2) previous academic credential at school and college (3) track record with forumias academy’s courses ( such as people who have done coaching ) (4) 1:1 interview performance where needed. (5) Referral from mentors / previously selected candidates of ForumIAS/ FRC students
Candidates who have taken SFG two times, but are unable to clear prelims, will also be preferred as, as an Academy we would like to internally and specifically see what is stopping them from clearing the prelims. We have seen several students who were not able to get through at Karol Bagh Center join us at FRC and clear the exam. Academic Calendar
The SFG ( Residential ) will be conducted in 3 phases as per below
Phase 1 – Starting December 10th till February third week, where candidates will have classes ( upto 6-8 hours ) + daily Tests 6 days in a week.
Phase 2 – Starting last week of Feb/1st week of March with daily tests aligned with all Indian SFG Level 2 + Current Affairs for Prelims Classes
Phase 3 – The last 30 days before the prelims examination, where students may have self study hours, revision tests until the last week before the prelims examination.

Hostel Fees
- Hostel fee with accommodation, mess and library facilities will cost 18,221 / pm + GST @18% (21,500/month with GST ) payable in two instalments of 70:30 for the full duration of the program (5 months twenty days ).
- It is to be noted that under the current GST regime ( as of October 2025 ) , student hostels with less than 20,000 per month rentals + 91 days of stay are exempt from GST. However, hostels run by coaching institutes are taxed at 18%.

How to apply for the program?
Step 1 – Click here to pay a registration fee of Rs 700+ GST to apply for the program. Within 24 hours of registration, you will receive a QCA ( Question-cum-Answer ) Booklet which you must print and attempt. Answers must be written in own handwriting and there should be no plagiarism.
Step 2 – Once, received, the QCA booklet must be scanned ( using camscammer/ OKEN app etc. ) and uploaded along with (a) passport sized photograph (b) scanned copy of signature (c) 10th Marksheet (d) Graduation Certificate.
Step 3 – Within 5 days of QCA upload and completing Step 2, you will be informed if you have been selected for the next stage. In some cases, you may be called for an online / offline interview.
Step 4 – This includes an optional personal interview and screening round. After the Interview round, you will receive – (a) confirmation of selection OR (b) rejection mail if we feel the program is not suitable for you.
Step 5 – Once selected, you sign the Program Acceptance Note, and make necessary payments with stipulated time to confirm your seat. You shall receive a confirmation of the same.

FAQs
- What if I feel my candidature has been rejected, and that I am a suitable candidate for the program? In such case, you can write to us at ravi@forumias.com for a second review of your application. The review team will have a second look at your application and inform you accordingly.
- I have heard the mess food sucks! Reddit says the food is not even fit for <dog/animal/cat/PDS/write anything here> consumption. Mess food at Tapasya is just like any standard student mess food that should be fit and nutritious for daily consumption. Breakfast now includes servings of both sprouts and fruits for those who want to keep it light. For the sake of clarity, and so that you are not misled by internet rumours, assumptions, an open channel exists which provides food pictures for every meal served to students. [10] Students with no mobility issues or no PH status may want to wrongly benefit from such arrangements by demanding such rooms on payment of additional fees just for the sake of comfort and convenience. Such request will NOT be entertained and any such requests / pressures may lead to cancellation of candidature.
