News: The Global Dryland Congress 2026 will be held in New Delhi from September 10 to 12, bringing together over 800 participants.
About Global Dryland Congress 2026

- Global Dryland Congress 2026 is a three-day global event promoting sustainable and climate-resilient dryland agriculture.
- Theme: “Transforming Dryland Agriculture with South-South Cooperation”
- Held at: It will be held at the National Agricultural Science Complex in New Delhi.
- Organisers: It is jointly organised by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT).
- Participants: More than 800 scientists, policymakers, farmer representatives and development partners from Asia, Africa and the Americas will participate.
- Key Features:
- Six Key Themes: It will focus on breeding, climate resilience, nutrition and markets, farming systems, seed systems, and gender and youth inclusion.
- Knowledge Exchange: It will provide a platform to exchange knowledge and explore solutions through panel discussions, keynote presentations, parallel sessions and poster exhibitions.
- South-South Cooperation: It will commemorate the United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation and hold sessions on South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) in agricultural research.
- Expected Outcomes: Its proceedings are expected to culminate in the Delhi Declaration on Dryland (3D), along with new partnerships, MOUs and awards.
- 50-Year Partnership: It will mark 50 years of the ICAR-ICRISAT partnership.
