News: The Ministry of Rural Development initiated a nationwide roadmap for women-led rural marketing ecosystems through the SHE-MART initiative.
About SHE-MARTs Initiative

- SHE-MART (Self Help Entrepreneur Marts) is an initiative to empower women entrepreneurs by creating community-owned retail outlets within cluster-level federations of self-help groups.
- Announced in: It was announced in the Union Budget 2026–27.
- Nodal Ministry: Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD)
- Implemented under: The initiative is being implemented under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).
- Aim: The initiative aims to strengthen market access, improve branding, support women entrepreneurs, and increase rural incomes through women-led enterprises.
- Key Features :
- Community-Owned Retail Outlets: The initiative creates women-led retail stores and aggregation hubs managed by self-help group federations.
- Direct Market Access: The initiative provides structured retail platforms for women entrepreneurs to sell products without intermediaries.
- Enterprise Development: The initiative helps women move from income generation to enterprise ownership.
- Permanent Infrastructure: The initiative establishes permanent retail points for SHG-made goods, including handicrafts, textiles, food products, and agricultural produce.
- Professional Management: The initiative provides digital inventory systems, branding, packaging support, and professionally managed retail systems.
