Dear Friends,

As promised, we begin with Civil Services 2017 Preparation. And the key to preparing for Civil Services Examination 2017 will be based on following things:

  • Reading Current Affairs on a dailyΒ basis
  • Writing Answers Based on Current Events
  • Covering the GS Mains Syllabus holistically to some extent before Prelims
  • Attempting Daily Current Affairs Questions

Reading Current Affairs on a dailyΒ basis

We already have two initiatives for covering Current Affairs on a daily basis:

The Mains Marathon – Your Answer to Daily Answer Writing Practise that does not compromise on your existing preparation

The big problem we all are facing, that there are simply too many questions – a lot of them meaningless – around the Internet. You can either do those questions, or clear the Civil Services – but not both. At least that is what you said in the Survey.

And you wanted these things from us

  • Limited Number of Questions that can be actually done.
  • Some feedback on answers.
  • Mains Marathon Suggested Answers.
  • Plan for covering the static part – for those who want to do Self Study

We have tried to address some or all of these through our FREE initiatives. We also have a paid MGP Plan with Top Mentors and email and telephonic support, but we can only have a limited number of people join that, as we are small and cannot take up many people as of now.

Daily Questions on Mains Marathon

We will be posting Daily Questions for Mains Marathon in the first half of the day. Β About the questions:

  • They will be limited to 3 to 4 questions on a daily basis
  • You are expected to spend not more than 10 minutes on each question – in essence limiting your answer writing time to between 30-40 minutes
  • Links will be provided – which should be read and digested in another 30 -40 minutes. In essence, the exercise, even when done at a slow pace, should help you do a meaningful Answer Writing Practice in between 1 hour to 90 Minutes, but never more than that.
  • We will try to keep all questions meaningful and relevant to the examination
  • The questions posted on MM 2017 will cover the current affairs part of GS Paper 3, 2, 1 and anything that is relevant for GS – 4 too.

Evaluation

  • We will be offering a general feedback for the questions and will point out any errors that you may be making in your answers.
  • The feedback for your answers will be provided by 11 PM everyday. Please post clear pictures of your answers for that.

Kindly review each others answers, so that everyone improves.

Weekly Essay

  • We will come up with one Essay Topic Every week for Essay. This will be released on Saturday
  • General Feedback on Essay will be provided by Wednesday. Peer review should also happen.

Prizes for Participation ( NEW! )

    Your efforts are commendable towards the mains guidance programme..however,the best answers are not pointed out from a long time(I saw from dec20).They were to be mentioned every night as declared.Also a critical review towards development for answers written later in the day and declaration of weekly toppers will be very encouraging..:)

    As per a survey done by us(http://forumias.com/portal/mains-marathon-2017-response-live/), users requested us to post questions on both Static & Current issues. Most users requested us not to stick to news of the current day, as it would limit the scope.
    From an aspirant point of view as well, we have limited daily questions to 3-4 questions only. This would be more practical for aspirants to implement.

    Hi Sir, A genuine query- I have been checking Manins Marathon for past 1 hour as I am about to start writing and confused between Insight Secure and ForumIAS Marathon. I must appreciate the quality of questions here is wonderful and unique. BUT.. The thing I am worried about is that I am really not getting Why the questions are not on the lines of same day news as Insight does. What is your idea of asking questions. They are either from past news (that to rare) or any other post (not from The Hindu) Why is it so.

    Why don’t you give questions from same day The hindu or any other newspaper as UPSC asks questions from Current happenings only. You cover issues but it does not really coincides with same day news.

    Please expain the idea behind this. I need to start ASAP.

    utilize the next 3 months to complete your optional and half of your mains syllabus, put schedule and work accordingly, review your preparation every week, at least write 30 answers per week and get reviewed, optional will be the key, so give more importance to that, spend at least 90 to 120 minutes for optional daily. All the best for your preparation!

    Mention not.. πŸ™‚ I think joining 2-3 is not going to help as the study plan & test schedule differs. So unless you are a senior player & just brushing your KB its not going to work. As the schedule gets difficult to manage along with optional & CA. Stick to one TS & be regular. ATB.

    You know what’s the best about this plan? Its just 4 questions per day AND weekly or may be daily SYNOPSIS..That’s what majority of people want..A model answer to compare with..what’s the point in getting it as a junk one and a half months later?? and sometimes not even that..anyways All the best for the venture..Hope it will promote many of us from the aspirant level to the final rank list.
